Recover lost data from microSD card
There are different types of memory cards that are used on different portable media, based on how each type of memory card is customized for each device. Some of the types of memory cards include CF cards, SD cards, XD cards etc. Among these, the most widely used one is the SD card. SD or Secure Digital is a non-volatile memory card format that has been developed by companies like Panasonic, Toshiba and SanDisk. Other than the basic SD format, there are two other SD formats namely miniSD and microSD format.
The SD cards are made use of widely in various portable devices like digital cameras, mobile phones, PDAs, Digital Cameras, Video game Consoles etc. Since memory cards too are storage devices, there are bound to be data loss situations on the memory card, just like any other hard drive on your PC. But people often get anxious, as they are unable to locate the lost files on the memory card as well as in the Recycle Bin of their PC. But there is absolutely nothing to be worried about, as the deleted/lost data can be recovered from your microSD card with the help of a good photo recovery software.
microSD cards are highly fragile, and hence need to handled carefully after data loss has occurred. It is advised that you stop using the memory card, once you realize that data has been lost from the memory card. The next thing you should do, is to download a trustworthy data recovery software, to recover the lost/deleted data. Memory Card Recovery software lets you perfrom memory card recovery on Mac and Windows and restore data that has been deleted/lost from the memory card with ease. Along with photos, this software also lets you restore deleted music files from memory card of different types.
You can follow the steps given below, to successfully recover all the lost/deleted photos from the digital camera.
Step 1: Carefully remove the microSD card from the digital camera, and connect it to a healthy PC where the Memory Card Recovery software - Mac Version has already been installed. Launch the software by selecting it from the application folder. The main window pops up as shown in Figure 1.

Step 2: The local and the external drives that are detected, are displayed as shown in the figure. Select the micro SD card from which you want to recover the lost data, and click on the "Next" button to proceed to the next step, as shown in Figure 2.

Step 3: On clicking the "Next" button, a new window pops up, as shown Figure 3. The various types of photo files, audio files, and video files are displayed, as shown in the figure below. You can select specifically, the file types that you wish to recover, or select all the file types, if you wish to recover all the media files, based on your requirement.

Note: By default, all the photo, audio and video files are selected for recovery. You can disable this feature, by clicking the "Deselect all" button.
Step 4: Once you finish selecting the file types that you want to recover, click the "Recover" button, to start the recovery process. A new window displays the progress made in the recovery process, and also lists the number of files that have been found, as shown in Figure 4.

You can use the "Show selected file types" option, to display the file types you selected in the previous step.
Step 5: Once the scanning process gets completed, the recovered media files are grouped together and listed in their respective folders as shown in Figure 5. Clicking any of the folder displays, the recovered files of the respective file type, under that folder, as shown in the figure.
